Find books while exploring
Check Hassan’s bookshop or second-hand book stall. Some quests ask you to speak to him first and wait for a later message about a book’s arrival.
Books can unlock recipes, but story events and cooking with characters are other routes. Buying books alone is not the whole recipe collection.
Skill books and recipe books
| Book type | What to do |
|---|---|
| Skill or ability book | Buy it, then arrange a reading activity to obtain its benefit. |
| Recipe book | Read the book’s actual description and check your recipe menu; do not assume every book follows the skill-book reading sequence. |
| Quest-related book | Follow the journey and Hassan’s messages about the specific request. |
Choose a night to read
Reading uses a night activity and can cost energy. If Lunne is exhausted, sleep and read another night rather than treating ownership as an immediate completed bonus.
For named recipe books and dishes, see the recipe reference.
